RSR converted to CIO charity, selects 50+ volunteer trustees and sevadars, who collectively, deliver services offered by this Gurdwara
Supreme Sikh Council UK
RSR Converted from an unincorporated registered charity to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO – an Association Model, constitution suitably amended to reflect its membership) in 2022 with Charity Commission.
All its governance, management processes and obligations are described therein.
A lead trustee/sevadar is selected to manage a particular set of duties needed for such an organisation depending on the individual’s capabilities and commitments required under the trust laws and good management.
Each of the trustees (max 21) are selected for 3 years term (a third must step down at every selection process, all subject to its constitution. There are no limitations on the number of sevadars appointed. A succession planning process is in place.
Nominations are submitted for each position (duties of each are displayed widely) and the appointments made accordingly and as per new CIO constitution. Only if there are multiple competent nominations for one position, voting may take place. Hence RSR follow selection rather than election processes under CIO to avoid “divisions” that otherwise may result, that are against Sikhi code.
RSR is also supported by other service providers and sponsors.
In term 2023-26, currently have 19 Trustees and some 35 appointed sevadars to manage vast range of services RSR delivers.
